Magnolia Memoir

Magnolia Memoir, pictured here playing at Angel's in Santa Monica.
Tonight they played gig 2 of their 5 week Tuesday residency at Molly Malone's.

Magnolia Memoir is Alexander Burke on the vibraphone and piano, Gordon Bash on bass, drummer Matt, and Mela Lee - a brilliant vocalist who sings with the serenity and cool of Frank Sinatra. Also joining them tonight were sax man Toby Karlin and percussionist Ricardo Hambra. MM is a jazz-rock hybrid, more Rickie Lee Jones than Pat Benatar, but they mostly remind me of obscure 80's band Swan's Way.
Check out Swan's Way's song "Soul Train".
